Announcement!KCS Principal Appointment

The KCS board is very excited to announce that Mr. Shane Nelson will be our next Principal!

Mr. Nelson is an experienced and professional Christian school principal and teacher. He has spent the last 21 years in Prince George teaching and leading at Cedars Christian School. While we are overjoyed at his decision to accept our offer, we know that the Cedars community is losing an amazing leader. Mr. Nelson loves Christian education and is very excited about the prospect of leading our school and applying his wealth of knowledge, education, and experience at King’s.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Nelson is a husband to Alicia, father to three adult children (and their spouses), and grandfather to one. Mr. Nelson and Alicia are excited to join our wonderful Christian community in the Shuswap. Mr. Nelson is especially looking forward to enjoying this stunning part of God’s creation on his mountain bike.

Background and the Process

Earlier this fall, we sadly accepted Mr. Paul Sutherland’s resignation as our principal. We are thankful to Mr. Sutherland for his dedication and service during his years as teacher and principal at King's.

The King’s board appointed an experienced, capable search committee to work with our HR and Advancement offices to post an attractive, competitive job. Through a diligent search, interview process, and two campus visits, the search committee prayerfully discerned and recommended to the board the best candidate to lead our school this fall and for the years to come.

As a school board, we want to thank those who helped make this process efficient and enjoyable. Thank you to Curtis Meliefste, Cristie Jansen, Cheri McNeilly, Jason Numan, and Vanessa Chapman for their diligent work and discernment as the search committee. Thank you to our director of advancement, Pam Treleaven, for her skillful work in creating the job postings and all the administrative support she offered in this process. And finally, a big thank you to the King’s students, staff, and faculty for creating such a warm and welcoming environment for our two principal candidates during their visit, and for the helpful feedback the search committee and school board received.

We are thankful for God's provision for King’s Christian School

 The psalmist writes in Psalm 95:2-5:

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;

let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

For the LORD is a great God,

and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are the depths of the earth

the heights of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his, for he made it,

 and his hands formed the dry land

Let us go to our Lord with thankful hearts for this new chapter in the story of King’s Christian School.
